Thematic Exhibition:
Our Women Warriors

website

Hong Kong families started to employ foreign domestic helpers since the 1970’s. There are more than 300,000 foreign domestic workers in Hong Kong at present, over half of them from the Philippines. During COVID-19, many of these foreign domestic workers are separated from their families for almost 3 years due to lockdown and other stringent travel restrictions imposed in various places. They are the Women Warriors who continue to work in Hong Kong families and sacrifice for their loved ones at home.

Since more than half of the domestic helpers in Hong Kong are from the Philippines, this exhibition displays the stories and cultures of Filipino domestic helpers in Hong Kong. Now, let us walk through what they have faced, so that we can co-design Hong Kong as a global metropolis that celebrates cultural diversity, embraces ethnic minorities and cares for those who are vulnerable.
